Ceramica de Sorbas

Bédar

Cuevas de Sorbas

To the West :

Take the road through Turre, follow it over the Rio Aguas, along a little Canyon to the exit Los Gallardos, just before the motorway. Turn right there and after about 700m, turn left up to the old mining village of Bédar. Just before town is the crossing to Lubrín, which you will take later, but we suggest a closer look into Bédar first. There is an Arabic fountain and washplace at the other end and an amazing view and vegetation.
Then return to the crossing and continue on the road to Lubrín, which offers truly spectacular views onto the mountainous landscape. From there take the road via El Pilar to Sorbas, whose white houses cling dangerously to the cliff edge along the river. By now you may need a coffee-break on the market place of sorbas and regreshed take the little road down to the older part of town, the Casoco Histórico, where some of the oldest ceramic stoves can be found.
You now have two options:
Either:
Drive about 1 Km. back on the main road you came from, but then turn right, through the famous Karst en Yesos and passing the little village of Los Molinos del Rio Aguas, which is one of the most scenic routes of our area. It will take you onto the motorway and you can complete the circle, taking the diredction towards Murcia, but leaving the motorway at 'Salida 520', which will lead you into Turre again.
( Duration about 4-5 hours)
Or:
You continue from Sorbas towards the unique desert of Tabernas, passing Mini Hollywood, where some of the hispano-westerns were shot.
More than 100 species of local and African animals may be seen in the zoo, which has been opened recently. Continue to Almería and take the motorway back to Mojácar.
(Duration between 7 and 8 hours.)
